What’s the difference between teach and record? Aren’t they the same thing?

Actually, they are very different. Record is done by “driving” the robot to a point in space, and then hitting the record button. |

If you Teach a position, it is not necessary to move the robot at all. This is a much easier way to program the robot as you do not have to drive it around. Click on the Expand button to get the Teach dialog. |

Once opened, just type in the values for X, Y, Z, Roll and Pitch, and hit the Teach button. Done! Students (teachers too) also make the mistake of typing stuff in the boxes, then hitting the Record button. Be sure to use the Teach button! |
