HOW DO I SAVE A POSITION WITH THE SLIDE BASE IN ROBOCELL?

Question:

My students are working on the Handshake activity, and just trying to get it to work in Robocell. They are telling me that they need the robot to move down the slide base but don’t know how to put that in their program. Can you help?

Answer:

The slide base is just an extra axis, and it allows points to be taught and recorded, anywhere along it. Follow the directions below, it’s easy!

Axis_7

To move the robot to any point on the slide base, just move it on axis 7 in the screenshot to the left. The Hotkeys are 7 & U, and by hitting these keys, the students will be able to move it along this axis.

Movement on this axis becomes part of the point when you save the position.

To record or teach this position, just do it the way you always have WITH ONE EXCEPTION!

Be sure that when you open the file, the Peripherals box is checked as in the screenshot to the right.

When using the slidebase, this needs to be done as soon as you open the file, and it should then stay checked with each point. Be sure to check this, or it will not move on the slide when you run the program.
